Iggy Pop & The Stooges - influences and contemporary bands

(Still walking the dog....)

I like Iggy Pop, and over time I have come to like his band The Stooges. I do, however, read how significant and how great and how innovative and how different The Stooges were, and I wondered.... Just how different were they from the music around them.

Their first album was released in 1969.

Their second, Fun House,  was released in 1970

Their third, the well known but problematic Raw Power, was released in 1973 with a controversial mix by David Bowie. The album has been re-released with an Iggy Pop mix.
