One of the worlds "best selling" (turns out that she's not a best seller as figures are calculated by the amount of times her songs are listened to on Spotify - that would be like calculating Bob Dylan's sales by counting how times people listened to his albums and singles rather than by how many he sold). Anyway, I'm aware of the name, and a few songs such as "I Kissed a Girl" and "Roar".

AllMusic:
Score:
Contains her big defining hit "I Kissed a Girl". The songs seem deliberately playfully provocative, such as "Kissed" and "Ur So Gay". It mainly washes over me.
The thump thump drumming and Perry's screechy vocals with simplistic guitar strummed tunes do not turn me on. I recognise a lot of the tracks, though find it all a little irritating to be honest.
The opening track, "Roar", I of course recognise, and I don't dislike it. It's not my thing, but it's a song of hers that I can say I am fairly neutral toward. It doesn't irritate me. I don't mind it, and though I doubt if I'd put it on a playlist, it's not inconceivable. I can possibly see myself putting this and "Kissed" and perhaps a couple of her other cheeky songs - like "Peacock" and "Gay" - on a playlist in the car. Just for the breezy fun of it.
The most thoughtful and considered and tasteful album so far. Naturally it wasn't as successful as the cheeky, fun, superficial albums.
More screeching and simplistic familiar rhythms. Hmm.

A little robotic, but that makes a change from the screeching. Although the rhythms and tunes are still boring and simplistic with a clear objective of appealing to the most people. Ultimately rather boring, and rather dismaying for its lack of ambition.
